Just finished watching Leap Year for the third time in two days. Netflix says it doesn't release until 6/1, but I think they have the wrong date. Anyway, I splurged and ordered it on pay-per-view. I don't think it will win any critical acclaim, but I love it. Of course it's set in Ireland (much of the scenery is the west coast--Mayo county--think Tempestuous without the darkness), so it was already ahead on that count. It's typical . . . probably cliche'. . . but who cares. It makes me feel good every time I get to the end.
Looks like my kind of movie. There was another one years ago that took place in Ireland - it had to do with a marriage lottery. I can't remember the name though.

Was it The Matchmaker with Janene Garafalo?
Yes, I think that's the title of the film. I liked it a lot.

I'm not a huge fan of Garafalo, but I did watch it more than once.

If you haven't seen The Young Victoria with Emily Blunt, you should rent it. What a fabulous look at the politics and splendor of the early days of her reign.

I've been meaning to. I have a list of movies to watch when dh isn't around and this is one of them. I'll put it near the top.

Just got back from seeing
Letters to Juliet
. I LOVED it! Of course I'd rewrite the very end lines--but Vanessa Redgrave is fabulous, as are the other actors. Totally, totally, totally romantic chick flick with all the right trimmings. The Italian countryside ain't too shabby as scenery either. And I have to tell you, too, seeing some of the elderly ladies in the audience for this one warmed my heart.

I really want to see that movie! I loved Under the Tuscan Sun and the previews of LTJ, look like the same type of movie. Just what I like!

I loved Under the Tuscan Sun! There are some differences in the storyline, though. LTJ could be a tender, romance novel from beginning to end. Uber sigh worthy. I felt UTTS was about her search for self worth more than the eventual romance. But BOTH top my list of movies to watch over and over again--once LTJ is released on DVD anyway.
